Dear All,

as promised, I am coming back to you as regards the sining/establishing an international choir🎶

Some of you know about it through the expats group and contacted me for further info, others have participated already in the singing we did in July and were interested to continue.
So here we are in September (almost) and I hope you are ready to take off with me in this project, meet some new people, build a fantastic group and grow musically. 😀

For a good start:
I wanted to propose to you two meetings on Wednesday’s, 8 and 15 of September (you may choose one of those, optionally) between 17:00-20:00.
The goal would be to get to know each other and talk about the project, and for me to understand your musical background and to make short voice auditions. This all will take ca. 20 minutes per person. I prepared an excel sheet with hours where you can enter your name by the time spot of your choice.

You may bring a song you know already and sing a part of it (or not). But no stress about it, it is not to win the X-factor competition (yet, I am sure already without checking that all of you have it!:) but for me to classify the voices (soprano/alto/tenor/bass), to understand if you may read scores, what has been your experience so far, what type of the music do you sing ect. in order to think about the repertoire to take off with.

I also wanted us to start with a music workshop which would take place on 18-19/09. That would be a possibility to get to know each other already, spend some quality time in good company and over music and learn some new songs!

The FB event and a poster will follow, but please mark the dates already in your agendas!

Venue:
Our lovely host Jesuit Social Center “W akcji” is another reason to be part of it. Under link you may read more about the activities. My connection with “W akcji” is dated a few years back already with beautiful event of the intercultural Christmas Carol singing that used to take place beginning of January and I had a pleasure to be part of. I say – used to, as the pandemic caused a break last year, but let’s hope we will be back this winter. It also gave me an idea for a project to be carried out there which was kindly accepted and supported by its director, Father Lukasz (thank you!:)

Address: Jesuits Social Center “w akcji”, ul Rakowiecka 61, entry from Bobola street

About me:
I have led an international ecumenical choir in Brussels called Gabriel’s Band for the last 5 years, singing different repertoire between worship and secular songs, in different languages and for different audience, from the Princes and Princesses at the European Parliament to people in social houses, as a big focus of our choir was to serve through music to others, especially those who cannot go out for a concerts (hospitals, houses for battled woman, elderly houses, ect) and we loved it! Here short movie about it: https://www.facebook.com/1312172308891500/videos/606220356660836
Lately I moved back to Poland following a personal decision and would like to start the choir here.

Last but not least:
If you have any questions/would like to introduce yourself a bit already, please write to me responding to this email.
And the more, if you have friends/know people that would be interested in this and would like to join – please forward this mail to them. Starting a choir is a fantastic adventure and it is thrilling to be there from the very beginning.

I must say that living abroad as well as leading a choir gave me an opportunity to meet fantastic people that became my friends and the same I wish for you. Establishing it from scratch, I am also open to your suggestions about repertoire and proposals of the songs as well as the character of the choir. Let’s co-create it together.

Best regards and looking forward to hearing from you or seeing you on one of the days in September!
